“Reading good books is as having conversations with the greatest brains
of the past centuries”
According to a sentence of the greatest philosophist, scientist,
mathematician Rene Descartes, reading books is one of the most wonderful
things human beings have. So, when did books first come out? And nowadays,
how do our students read books?
Before
contemporary era, Human used to go through two stages: prehistory and
history. Prehistory is the time period of life forming on earth, including
human’s one. At that time, human only hunted and gathered for a living day
by day. Nobody could write down the past or show a particular future plan
for their generation and the next ones. That had been a long dark stage
human had to go through until the glimmer of knowledge knocked their soul
windows via the invention named “ writing”. The first writing came out
together with the Bronze Age, at the end of Stone Age, in the fourth
millennium BC. Since then, history has been formed, human knew how to
write their precious living and working experiences on cliff, skin,
clay,…for exchanging information with each other and also for imparting to
the next generations. And since the first paper book was made in
China,
105 A.D, the spread of knowledge has been taken place at a more and more
rapid speed. I should think if everyone reads books in a diligent way
everyday, nobody can imagine how huge knowledge will be got, especially in
this 21st century – the century of information explosion.
In
contrast to the development trend of recent knowledge economy, many
students have lazy habits of reading books. Above habits depart from many
reasons. One of them is from the mobile phones – which nobody can lack
for. Many students addict playing online game and chatting in social
network which leads to no time for reading books. Furthermore, most of
recent university lecturers go too easy on students. The exams teachers
give them are only in the circle of what they have already learned in
class. This unintentionally causes dependence of the learners. They are
unaware of self-study and reading more books, while savvy is countless.
The knowledge in lecture halls is just a sand grain compared to the
immense sea that they need to comprehend. Overall, if the above problem
still lasts,
Vietnam
will lag behind the rest of the world.
In brief, without knowledge, human would be only as
a decaying chunk of wood which would disapear through time. Being a
student, the generation hold the future of the home country, you must
immediately give up the lazy, dependent habit. Live worthily of your
family, your teachers, and former generations. Everybody, together be at
humanity’s heel in discovering knowledge treasures by reading and self
studying everyday so that the the trees of life will be always green fresh
and create fragrant flowers, sweet fruits.
